5 top beauty foods

Getting married soon? What to put on your plate for glowing skin.

In the months leading up to your big day, one of the best things you can do for your skin and overall wellbeing is to start focusing on what’s going into your body, not only what you’re putting on it.

Brides will commonly ask me what topical treatments to apply, while topical products have their place, true skin health starts from within, your body is working 24/7 to build new cells and dependent on the nutrients you’re feeding it.

Fueling your body with the right nutrients can:

  • Help fight inflammation

  • Support collagen products

  • Fight of free radicals

  • Boost your skin’s natural glow

  • Help support and energise you through the stress of wedding planning!

Here are some of my favourite beauty foods to include in your diet.

1. AVOCADOS – NATURE’S MOISTURIsER

Avocados are rich in healthy fats, particularly monounsaturated fatty acids, which help keep the skin flexible, moisturised, and supple. They’re also a great source of vitamin E, an antioxidant that protects your skin from oxidative damage.

Tip: Add sliced avocado to your salads, toast, or smoothies for a creamy skin-loving boost.

2. FATTY FISH – OMEGA-3 POWERHOUSE

Salmon, mackerel, and sardines are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation and keep skin thick and hydrated. They’re also rich in zinc, which is essential for regulating oil production and wound healing.

Tip: Aim for 2–3 servings of fatty fish per week for optimal skin benefits.

3. SWEET POTATOES – BETA-CAROTENE BEAUTY

Sweet potatoes are packed with beta-carotene, a nutrient your body converts into vitamin A. It acts as a natural sunblock by protecting your skin from UV rays and promoting a healthy skin tone.

Tip: Roast sweet potato wedges with olive oil and herbs for a tasty, skin-friendly snack.

4. GREEN TEA – ANTIOXIDANT hit

Green tea is loaded with catechins, powerful antioxidants that improve skin elasticity, reduce redness, and increase hydration. It also helps fight signs of aging by neutralising harmful free radicals.

Tip: Swap one daily coffee for a cup of green tea to hydrate and detox your skin from within.

5. WALNUTS – NUTRIENT RICH SKIN SUPPORT

Walnuts are a great source of essential fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6, which the body can’t produce on its own. They also contain zinc, selenium, and vitamin E, key nutrients for maintaining skin structure and reducing inflammation.

Tip: Sprinkle crushed walnuts over oatmeal or yogurt for a satisfying crunch that nourishes your skin.
